Equipment Mike On the first two albums , Mike used a Gibson G3, which was a new style bass brought out by Gibson in the mid-1970s and discontinued in the 1980s, with a more Fender-style body shape. On 'Dookie' he switched to a Precision and 'Nimrod' used a Precision '66 and '69 and has been using them ever since. One is white with a black scratchplate and the other is black with a white scratchplate. He uses Mesa/Boogie MB2000 amps to power custom built cabinets, usually an MB2000 powering both a 1x18 cab on top of a 6x10 cab (sometimes two).
