At the Library : Billie Joe - "The song's about when I was 16 I saw a girl that was really ugly so I figured she might like me. But she didn't - so, you know, pretty bleak future-I didn't even get the ugly ones! It's about that, about infatuation and all that garbage". In The End : Billie Joe - "That song's about my mother's husband." Sassafras Roots : Billie Joe - "It's about wasting your time in a relationship. Mike made up the title. I don't know where he comes up with them. It would be dumb just to call the song 'Wasting your Time' because it's too obvious, so I said 'Mike, what's a good title for the song?' and he said 'Sassafras Roots'. I don't know, he's a pretty peculiar guy!" Welcome To Paradise : Billie Joe - "It's about West Oakland, living in a warehouse with a lot of people, a bunch of artists and musicians, punks and whatever just lived all up and down, bums and junkies and thugs and gang members and stuff that just lived in that area. It's no place you want to walk around at night, but it's a neat warehouse whee you can play basketball and stuff." Longview : Billie Joe - "It's about boredom and masturbation and smoking dope." Westbound Sign : Billie Joe - "It's about a girl leaving home to live in the city, which is based on my wife." Brat : Billie Joe - "Kids waiting for their parents to die so they can inherit what they own." Jackass : Billie Joe - "A sax solo in a rock tune makes most people cringe, but that song really called for a Clarence Clemon type rock'n'roll solo." Misery : Billie Joe - "Watching Disney movies will change you. A tune like Misery sounds like it could have come straight out of Aladdin." Macy's Day Parade : Billie Joe - "It's sort of about the lies and deceptions that you have growing up and how you have to find youe own way around." Church On Sunday : Billie Joe - "It's a song about when you're in a long term relationship with somebody, you have to keep reinventing it, and it takes a lot of compromise." Minority : Mike - "It's pretty self explanatory. It's kind of an anthem for individuality...anything can be a uniform whether it's a suit and tie or a mohican. So if you wanna be an individual you gotta look inside yourself." Warning : Mike - "You gotta make your own decisions and choices. It's not so much about what to think, it's just to think. Question everything."
